چکیده

A 1.6nJ/bit inductive transceiver targeting volume-constrained microsystems with limited peak current is presented. The transceiver uses a protocol in which the external unit sends the same packet multiple times to shift the power consumption burden to the external TRX unit and relax jitter requirements on the mm-scale receiver. The transceiver receives data from a 2W external unit at 1m distance using a dual-coil LNA design and fast-startup frontend. The 2.5mm 2 transceiver draws 19.9μA from a 2mm 2 thin-film battery at 40.7kbps.

A RF Transceiver for Wireless Monitoring Systems of the Vertebral Column Behaviour

This paper presents a radio-frequency (RF) transceiver designed, using a standard 0.18 μm CMOS process, for operation in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. The receiver has a sensivity of -64 dBm and consumes 3.5 mW from a 1.5 V supply. The RF transmitter delivers an output power of +11 dBm (15 mW) with a power consumption of 45 mW. These features make the RF transceiver suitable to be integrated in microsy...

Low-Power 3D Integration using Inductive Coupling Links for Neurotechnology Applications

Three dimensional system integration offers the ability to stack multiple dies, fabricated in disparate technologies, within a single IC. For this reason, it is gaining popularity for use in sensor devices which perform concurrent analogue and digital processing, as both analogue and digital dies can be coupled together. One such class of devices are closed-loop neuromodulators; neurostimulator...

NMR spectroscopy of single sub-nL ova with inductive ultra-compact single-chip probes

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy enables non-invasive chemical studies of intact living matter. However, the use of NMR at the volume scale typical of microorganisms is hindered by sensitivity limitations, and experiments on single intact organisms have so far been limited to entities having volumes larger than 5 nL. Here we show NMR spectroscopy experiments conducted on single int...

Low-power/low-voltage RF microsystems for wireless sensors networks

This paper presents radio-frequency (RF) microsystems (MSTs) composed by low-power devices for use in wireless sensors networks (WSNs). The RF CMOS transceiver is the main electronic system and its power consumption is a critical issue. Two RF CMOS transceivers with low-power and low-voltage supply were fabricated to operate in the 2.4 and 5.7GHz ISM bands. The measurements made in the RF CMOS ...
